GIS MAPS
The GPS system can present you with the exact latitudinal and longitudinal location of your vehicle. However, in order to understand the location in layman's terms, we need to plot this position on a map which has the information we humans use to reference locations i.e. streets, houses, landmarks etc. GIS maps are available from various vendors. Before using these maps, we have to check whether they are properly geo-referenced and compatible with our GIS software and create an interface to our system. This map is then hosted on our servers and display the locations of all vehicles fitted with the Hawkeye VTS hardware.
